Hackn3t Open Call for [Online] Residencies

Hackn3t is an online residency program with the goal of showing the everyday practice of (digital) (new) media artists, coders or other tech creatives by leveraging publicly accessible networked conference calls and desktop sharing.

Everyone is invited to apply with performances, artist talks, lectures, workshops (...) that will take place on hacklab01’s own infrastructure and will be archived on the web under a permissive licence.

After the improvement of epidemiological and spatial conditions, hackn3t will again start to take place in physical space, while staying open to online residency proposals.

Grants (artist fees) are awarded for each residential stay in the maximum amount of 2200HRK (~ 300EUR) payable by invoice. The amount depends on the type of engagement and the duration of the residency. As we do not want to limit the formats but to encourage the diversity of applications, please specify the desired fee in your application.

Examples of funds awarded:

  • single evening performance or artist talk: 300HRK
  • multi-day workshop with a performance (example here): maximum amount.

No specific theme is set - new media and hacking are the guiding principles, but all applications will be considered.

Apply to the email address info@hacklab01.org with the subject "Application for hackn3t residency". The application must contain:

  • Name and surname
  • Location
  • Time frame (when it takes place and for how long)
  • Artist fee (max. 2200HRK total)
  • Short biography (not a CV ;))
  • Website (work example)
  • Pitch (description of materials to be presented on our platform)

For additional inquiries contact info@hacklab01.org

Hackn3t uses its own VPS server infrastructure and a free software solution (BigBlueButton) to display content. Selected applicants will be obliged to provide an adequate internet connection (min 1.5 Mbit upload, 5 Mbit for HD content), and to dedicate time to get acquainted with the platform before the start of the residency.

Good luck! ;)

Hacklab01 is a project by AKC Attack and Format C art org, financially supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, the "Kultura Nova" Foundation and the City of Zagreb.
